Urban farming, summer feet and solar ovens

My beautiful friend Millie is on the board for the Neighborhood Farm Initiative, a nonprofit that helps find opportunities for D.C. residents to grow their own food in urban farming spaces. They have a gorgeous garden right at the Ft. Totten metro station, and Millie invited me to check out their open house on Saturday. I met some lovely people, ate a slice of fresh strawberry rhubarb pie from Dangerously Delicious Pie truck, and experienced some serious homegrown mint envy (my sad little pot on my kitchen window sill isn't doing so great).
