I don't know what I'm more excited about this week: A Robert Earl Keen cover of the Richard Thompson classic 1952 Vincent Black Lightening or the new Alabama Shakes tracks that they are trickling out (April can't come fast enough).
I think I'm going to go with the 'Bama Shakes tracks. I loved their debut, but I was a little worried that they may turn out to be kind of a one-trick (or one-sound) pony. They've been so cagey with new material in live shows that it was kind of hard to tell there for a while. But after hearing the funky, kind of psychedelic sound of Future People in particular, I'm not worried, I'm counting down.
ICYMI, New York Times mag had an awesome profile of Brittany over the weekend that is well worth the read.
